Woman dies after blaze

Firefighters put out the fire and found the woman unconscious at 6.20am at Buxted Court, Gordon Road.

She was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells where she later died.

Another resident in the flats, a 91-year-old man, was also taken to hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

Police do not believe the cause of the fire was suspicious but are still investigating the scene with help from the fire service.
