William Parker recognised as being top class

A SECONDARY school has been recognised as one of the top 100 performing schools in the country.

William Parker Sports College, in Parkstone Road, received a congratulatory letter from Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, saying it had shown continuous improvement over the last few years.

John Court, headteacher, said: “Being recognised to be among the 100 top performing schools nationally, based on sustained improvement in each year from 2008 to 2011, is truly fantastic.

“This is further praise for all the efforts in the college over the past three years and reflects the passion of all the staff to ensure that students finish in year 11 with the very best possible results.

“It also shows the commitment of students and parents to their outcomes which are so important in an ever increasing competitive market. William Parker is proud to play its part in raising standards across the town.”
