Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to don your glad rags and prepare to take your seats for the fashion extravaganza of the year, FRONT ROW 2016.
The epic FRONT ROW Fashion & Performance Art Event, recognised as one of the major fashion events in Sussex, will be held at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Saturday November 26.
This year’s theme is ‘Wearable Art’. The show’s Creative Director, Maika Crampton says preparations are well under way but there’s still much to do.
“Our next hurdle is the deadline for the WearUrArt Charity Shop Design Challenge on Friday, October 14, so just under a month away,” she said.
“We want to remind and encourage all the creative people out there that this competition is open to everyone, no matter what age, background or skill level.”
The competition is designed to raise awareness in young people about fashion sustainability, reduce clothing waste, encourage more people to shop for fashion in Charity Shops, showcase how to be creative with pre-loved clothing, fuse fashion and performance into an art form, raise the profile of local design talent, expose the area of Hastings and Rother as a hotbed of innovative thinking, inspire people of all ages and creative abilities to get involve.
Maika added: “This is the brief: Create an outfit from pre-loved clothing and materials bought in a charity shop (keep receipts) to a budget of a maximum £30 to the theme ‘Wearable Art’.”
Categories will be: Creative Excellence, Best Technical Achievement, Best Drama,Best Innovation, Best Young Newcomer, and Best Outfit.
Deadline for applications is midnight, October 14. Register online at: www.thisisfrontrow.com
