Westfield Church: celebrated its Patronal Festival and the visit of Bishop Martin last Sunday with a wonderful outdoor Family Service followed by a picnic. It was lovely to welcome children from Westfield School who sang three songs, including their prize-winning '˜Hastings Seaside Celebration'. Services this Sunday, July 3 are both Holy Communion at 8am and 10am. You will find a warm welcome.

The new Westfield Church weekly group: for parents and toddlers (and babies) has started. It will meet every Wednesday (term time) from 2-3pm in the new family corner in the church, so do come and catch up with a chat over refreshments with play, stories, games and songs for the toddlers. Just turn up or contact Lian on 07712 315947 or Natalie on 07863 819662 for more information.

Over sixty of Westfield’s senior: residents were entertained royally at the WCA tea party last Saturday to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. The tea was delicious, and the hall beautifully decorated in red, white and blue. Thanks must go to organisers Rose and Philippa for a wonderful afternoon.

Westfield Horticultural Society: are running six floral art classes from 7-9pm in the Parish hall on Tuesdays, starting next week on July 5. The cost for the course is just £20 plus the flowers, and all are welcome, absolute beginners and those with experience alike. Ring Catherine 01424 552485 if you would like a place. You too can produce a star attraction for the next Horticultural Show!

The Friends of Westfield Parish Church: hold their annual Strawberry Tea on Sunday, July 10 from 3pm at Church Place Farm, Vicarage Lane (in the Parish Hall if the weather is poor). Admission is £4 (children £2) and includes strawberries and cream, cake and tea. There will also be a raffle.

The annual Summer Jazz Picnic: organised by Rotary Club of Senlac also takes place on Sunday, July 10 at 90 Westfield Lane, with the Excelsior Jazz Band and The Victory Sisters. Tickets are £11 in advance or £13 on the day. Entry is from 11.30am, so come and picnic by the lake (bring chairs) before the music starts at 1pm, then listen to a great jazz band, have a dance, and join the brolly parade. Fresh from being awarded: the cup for first prize in the Church Choir section at the prestigious Hastings Music Festival, Guestling Church Choir will be taking part in this year’s “Cantabile, Songs for a Summer Evening” Concert on Saturday, July 16. The concert takes place at St. Laurence Church, Guestling at 7pm, hosted by Molly Townson, and also includes Suzan Ozkan (Soprano) and Enid Graham (accompanist). Tickets are £12, including refreshments with strawberries and cream, from the Church, Gill Perry (814578) or Molly Townson (01424 812520). All concert proceeds will go to the St. Laurence Church Restoration Fund. Based on previous years, this is a concert not to be missed!
