Our thanks to reader Jeff Trump who created this compilation video of lightning early on Friday morning (July 18).

He says it is a mix of both Buck Barn crossroads at West Grinstead and Swan Walk car park in Horsham.

The expected fierce storms on Saturday morning were mainly restricted to the Sussex coast.

Horsham town saw a brief very heavy downpour and a handful of lightning flashes.
