Firefighters have issued a warning after a malicious false fire alarm in St Leonards this morning (Thursday, January 21).
One East Sussex Fire and Rescue appliance from Bohemia Road was sent to Tilebarn Road at around 11:30am after an automatic fire alarm was sounded.
On arrival it was confirmed that a call point had been activated maliciously.
The fire service would like to remind the public of the serious nature of hoax, or malicious calls.
Hoax calls are a criminal offence and we would like to remind the culprit that if prosecuted you may face a large fine, or even a custodial sentence.
