VOLUNTEERS are wanted to lend a hand with the ‘Green Project’ at Ponds Wood.
The project is run by the park rangers and the Wishing Tree Woodland Group, with the aim of managing the woodland, in St Leonards, for the benefit of wildlife and visitors.
A task day will take place tomorrow (Saturday), and anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to attend.
Councillor Emily Westley, lead member for leisure at Hastings Borough Council, said: “We’ve all heard of Pondswood Industrial Estate but maybe not the woods themselves.
“Ponds Wood is located in Hollington, west of Pondswood Industrial Estate between Ironlatch Avenue and Celandine Drive.
“It has beautiful woodland with a stream and a series of ponds.
She added:“The aim of this event is to boost the numbers of active volunteers who already get stuck in on a regular basis to help manage the woods for the benefit of wildlife and visitors alike.
“It’s an opportunity to give something back to your local community, get outdoors and active, meet people and socialise.”
Volunteers can donate as little or as much time as they have between 11am and 2pm, and should wear suitable clothing and shoes.
They should meet at the entrance off Gillsmans Hill opposite the Fern Road junction.
