Front Row is a compassion fashion show - all designers are required to work with recycled and reused materials and Creative Director Maika Crampton (the designer behind label Paper Couture) who has curated Front Row since its inception says the theme this year is ‘Out of this World’. “After our last epic Front Row Fashion Show in 2013, ‘Gods & Monsters’, we decided that it would be great to offer our audience the opportunity to get creative and choose our next show theme themselves - and so we ran a competition,“ she said.

“We decided to go for ‘Out of this World’ because we always try to give Front Row’s designers and performers as much creative freedom as possible - whether that’s Space Age, Galaxy or any other dimensions as yet uncharted.

“We are really excited to have come up with a theme that will challenge all our designers.” Front Row’s annual Charity Shop Challenge returns with members of the public invited to create outfits from charity shop finds on a budget of just £20. The competition (now closed to entry’s) will raise funds for Terrence Higgins Trust/World Aids Day (December 1) and local charity St Michael’s Hospice.

The event also sees the launch of the first Front Row Vintage Fashion Fair on Sunday (November 22) 11-4pm, at the De La Warr Pavilion (DLWP) and includes work from international artist Mel Elliott - the woman behind the cult for colouring in. Her celebrity colouring books have become global hits and she has her own celebrity followers. Mel will headline the vintage fair with her unique range of I Love Mel products and signed books. Mel will be joined by over stallholders from all over the south coast.

Maika says she is delighted that the DLWP gave the extra day to stage the vintage fashion fair. “It will be a day celebrating fashion of all eras,” she said. “With live music from the Rockabilly Flyers, a Fashion Parade, classic film screening, a classic car display, retro dance performances, refreshments and over 30 stalls selling handmade, vintage, customised pre-loved and designer clothes and accessories!

“The entire event is really going to be quite amazing and we hope everyone will pop down to Bexhill On Sea to see us over the weekend.”
