VIDEO: Jack in the Green
The spirit of summer was officially released today (Monday) with the procession and symbolic slaying of Jack.
Scores of spectators thronged to the Old Town to watch the parade which began at the Fishermen’s Museum at 10am and snaked its way along All Saints Street, across the Bourne, High Street, Swan Terrace, Croft Road, Collier Road, Priory Road, and ended up on the West Hill.
During the afternoon there was Morris dancing at the festival site on the West Hill as well as a craft fair, food stalls and a licensed bar.
The ceremonial slaying took place at 3.30pm.
