A van driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision on the A21 north of Hastings.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the A21, Ebdens Hill, Kent Street, at 3.35pm on Thursday (February 5).

A silver VW Caddy van travelling south had collided with a Mercedes box van travelling north.

As a result of the collision the road was blocked.

The driver of the Mercedes van, a 31-year old man from Swanley, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the Conquest Hospital.

The 50-year old St Leonards man driving the VW van sustained serious injuries and was taken King’s College Hospital in London by air ambulance.

Sergeant Dan Pitcher, of the Surrey and Sussex Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the vehicles on the A21 just beforehand, or who saw the collision itself, to contact Sussex Police via or by calling 101, quoting Operation Draper.”
