Van driver dies after A21 crash

A VAN driver has died and another man is in a critical condition in hospital following a crash on A21 on Friday (September 19).

Emergency services raced to the stretch of road just south of the junction with Marley Lane following reports of a crash between two vehicles at around 1.15pm.

A silver Vauxhall Vivaro van travelling south had collided head on with a Daf lorry travelling north.

The driver of the Vivaro, a 27-year-old man from Tonbridge in Kent, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry, a 41-year-old man from Slough, was airlifted to Kings Collage hospital in London, where he remains is a critical condition.

Officers from the Sussex Roads Policing Unit attended the scene and the road was shut for six hours whilst an investigation and recovery work took place.

Officers are keen to speak to any witnesses to the collision itself or the driving of either vehicle prior to the collision.
