Two police officers assaulted in Robertson Street, Hastings

TWO police officers were assaulted while they dealt with an outbreak of violence in Robertson Street this morning (June 27) at about 3am.

The two officers, both men, were pursuing a suspect when they were hurt. They sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics. Also, three Asian men, all aged 21, suffered facial injuries after being attacked by three white men.

Two men, both 18, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and police are looking for another man wanted in connection with the incident.

Martin Mann, investigator for the response investigation team, said: “These events followed a students’ evening in Hastings.

“Many people had been drinking and many were still around when these assaults took place.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have taken photographs on mobile phones to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email with whatever information they may have, quoting serial 166 of 27/6.

“Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers free and without having to give their name on 0800 555111.”
