Two new Deputy Lieutenants in East Sussex

Two new Deputy Lieutenants have been appointed for the county of East Sussex.

They will assist the Lord Lieutenant, Peter Field, in the execution of his duties in the County on behalf of HM The Queen. Those appointed are: Christopher John McLean Gebbie OBE DL and Jenny KilBride Roberts MBE DL.

Chris is a past chairman of the East Sussex Drugs Advisory Council and of Lewes Victoria Hospital League of Friends.

He was chairman of Sussex Heritage Trust for four years and recently retired from his role as a Magistrate where he served for 26 years. He was High Sheriff of East Sussex for the year March 2014/15

Jenny lives in Ditchling where she is a trustee of the Ditchling Museum of Art and Crafts having recently retired as Chairman.

Jenny led the successful development of the Museum raising some £2.3m in the process.

She is a skilled weaver and involved in many activities with the local community.

The Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex Peter Field said, “I am delighted that Chris and Jenny have been appointed.

“Both have played, and continue to play an important part in the life of our local community and I know their considerable skills and experience will be extremely useful in supporting me in the execution of my duties.”
