Two men and a teenager arrested near Hastings Pier

Two men and a boy were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in Hastings yesterday (Tuesday, March 14).

The trio were stopped near Hastings Pier just before 1pm. One of them ran off, but was pursued by uniformed officers and arrested at the rear of an Indian restaurant in Eversfield Place.

A 24-year-old man from Southwark, London, was arrested on suspicion of the supply of a controlled drug of Class A (heroin); a 32-year-old man from Hammersmith, London, was arrested on suspicion of the supply of controlled drug of Class A (heroin) and possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis/cannabis resin); and a 17-year-old boy from Luton was arrested on suspicion of the supply of a controlled drug of Class A (heroin) and supply of controlled drug of Class A (cocaine).

Hastings and Rother districts policing commander Chief Inspector Steve Curry said: “Operation Sunshine is our response to problems of anti-social behaviour in the town centre associated with substance misuse. We are taking action and I would urge anyone with information that could lead to more arrests to contact us with the details.
