Two jailed for Hastings drugs supply conspiracy

Two men have been jailed after drugs with an estimated potential street value of more than £1 million were seized.

Jed Ballard, 27, of Moor Lane, Westfield, was sentenced to 10 years, and Pavel Ryslink, 20, of Hardwicke Road, Hastings, was jailed for four years, when they appeared at Brighton Crown Court on Thursday (May 12) having pleaded guilty at a previous hearing.

Sussex Police said Ballard was sentenced for conspiracy to supply cocaine, possession with intent to supply MDMA, methoxetamine and amphetamine, possession of cannabis, money laundering and possessing an offensive weapon.

Ryslink was sentenced for conspiracy to supply cocaine, and possession of heroin.

On November 20 last year detectives from the Sussex Police Serious Organised Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at an address in Victoria Avenue, Hastings.

Ballard was arrested there and a search was also carried out at his home address in Moor Lane, Westfield, police said.

Drugs seized at both addresses included 4.25 kilos of cocaine and two kilos of MDMA, eight kilos of amphetamine and three kilos of methoxetamine.

Ryslink was arrested in London on the same day, linked to this seizure by joint enquiries by the Sussex and City of London forces.

A further two kilos of cocaine were seized from the vehicle he was travelling in, together with a small amount of heroin.

Detective Inspector Andy Bennett said; “This seizure and subsequent prison terms were the culmination of a dedicated investigation, and information provided by members of the public.

“A significant quantity of drugs, destined to cause harm to many people across the county were recovered, as well as live 9mm ammunition rounds, and lengthy sentences were handed out to two men involved in their storage and distribution.

“This investigation has been a real success in our fight against organised crime in Sussex, but we still urge members of the public to come forward if they have any information that would help us target organised criminal groups.
