Two children hurt during incident on train in Hastings

Police are seeking witnesses to an incident on a Hastings to Ore train in which two children aged five and three were hurt while a 23-year-old man was involved in a violent confrontation with a 16-year-old pregnant girl.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Tuesday (March 17) and police are particularly keen to speak to the father of the two youngsters who were pushed into a table and a pram when the man ran off up the train.

The children were upset but not seriously hurt.

Any witnesses, the parents of the young children or anyone else with information which may assist police are asked to email or phone 101, quoting serial 1019 of 17/3.
