The road is also closed due to an oil spillage on Rocky Lane from A272 to Valebridge Road, which is affecting traffic travelling between Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath.
The road is also blocked with heavy traffic due to an accident on the A270 in Lewes Road both ways from Melbourne Street to Elm Grove.
An accident has also partially a road in Peacehaven involving one on Sutton Avenue at Greenwich Way.
There is queueing traffic on the A27 Polegate bypass both ways between Brown Jack Avenue and A22 Polegate Road (Cophall Roundabout) due to construction work. Lane restrictions are in place for long-term carriageway works.
The eastbound side is heavily congested, according to the AA.
