At present, Southern have the following changes to its services:

Services which usually run from Brighton to Hastings/Ore, and from Ore/Hastings to Brighton (via Lewes and Eastbourne), will be cancelled.

Other services will generally still be able to run, including services which run between Brighton and Eastbourne, but may be subject to a few short-notice changes and delays.

Trains between London Victoria and Eastbourne/Hastings/Ore will generally stop additionally at Glynde and Berwick, in both directions.

A spokesperson for the service said: “An engineering train experienced a low speed derailment in the Eastbourne area.

"This has since been re-railed, but a set of points just outside of Eastbourne station have been damaged and will need repairing.

“The result of this is that trains cannot use platform 3 at Eastbourne station, therefore Southern will need to reduce the number of services running to [and] from the station through the day.

“Network Rail have advised that a replacement set of points is still being sourced, and will then need to be delivered to site and installed.

"Although they're working to ensure this is done as quickly as possible, it is not an immediate process, and exact timescales are still being confirmed.”
