Police put up lockdown checkpoint for drivers on Sussex A-road

Police have put up a lockdown checkpoint for drivers on a major A-road in Sussex.

Today (May 9), Sussex Police officers have been stopping drivers on the A23 in Patcham, Brighton, and asking them about their reasons for driving, with fines being handed out to people who are breaking the rules and vehicles being turned around. According to the lockdown rules, travel should be for essential reasons only, such as medical reasons or getting to work where working from home is not possible. The A23 connects Brighton to London and is one of the main roads out of Sussex.
