Rother District Council said the car parks are now full due to the numbers of people travelling to the beach.

Today (Wednesday, May 20) has seen the hottest temperatures recorded so far this year, with temperatures in some parts of the country hitting 27 degrees Celsius.

A spokesman said: “All car parks at Camber are now closed as full due to the volume of people travelling to the beach.

Sussex Police are on hand to help us manage this. We are also receiving reports of other beaches in the area being very busy.

“Please stay safe and don’t travel to our beaches.

“Unfortunately, with people allowed to travel for exercise there are no powers available to stop people from visiting the beach but we ask you to consider whether you can visit safely and whether you need to visit.

“Please help us keep residents and visitors safe and stay away.”

This comes days after the leader of Rother District Council urged people to stay away from Bexhill and Camber Sands, as the weather got warmer.

There are currently no lifeguards patrolling Camber Sands due to the seasonal workers not being included in the Government’s job retention scheme.

There will be no lifeguard coverage in place in Bexhill throughout the summer, the council has confirmed.
