Town celebrates 20 years of links with Germany

Twenty years of links between Bognor Regis and one of its German twin towns have been celebrated.

A party of 48 guests from Weil am Rhein and fellow German twin Trebbin spent five days in Bognor staying with host families.

They enjoyed outings to the Rolls Royce factory at Goodwood '“ owned by German firm BMW '“ and the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich.

Visits to Beachy Head, the Birling Gap and Lewes also took place.

The guests and their hosts were treated to a welcoming reception by Bognor town mayor Cllr Don Eldridge and the town council at the Regis School of Music in Sudley Road. The occasion featured an exchange of gifts.

A further reception took place towards the end of the visit. It was hosted by the association at South Bersted Church Hall with entertainment by Selsey group Cloud Nine.

The evening was completed by the cutting of a 20th anniversary celebration cake, a champagne toast and the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
