Tomorrow's People honours Baroness Fookes

FORMER Hastings councillor Baroness Fookes has been named Ambassador Of The Year by the Tomorrow's People employment charity.

The Conservative Peer is already a patron of the charity, which has an active branch in Hastings, where Baroness Fookes, as plain Janet Fookes, was a teacher and councillor in the late 1950s, early 1960s.

The red-headed life peer went to the charity's annual awards night unaware that she was to be the main recipient.

Debbie Scott, Chief Executive of Tomorrow's People said: "Baroness Fookes is held in the highest regard and with the deepest affection within Tomorrow's People. She has contributed to the success of our work consistently over the last ten years. Tomorrow's People is the richer for her involvement, as are the clients we serve and the staff who work in the organisation."
