Thug breaks man’s jaw on Pirate Day

A YOUNG man had his jaw fratured after being punched in the face during Pirate Day celebrations.

The sickening attack happened around 5.30pm on Sunday July 22.

The 20-year-old victim from Bexhill was on the West Hill for the celebration but whilst walking on the open grass area he was punched in the face by a man.

He fell to the ground and his jaw was fractured in two places.

The offender, who the man did not recognise, is believed to be white, was wearing a pirate costume and was with a group of others.

The assault was not reported to the police until Thursday July 26.

Detective constable Rob Tilyer, of Hastings CID, said: “There is currently no evidence that this violent attack was in any way typical of events on the day.

“But we hope people will come forward if they saw this or any other acts of violence on the West Hill that evening.
