THOUSANDS of youngsters and their families enjoyed a day of games, music and other entertainment at the annual Summer Day @ The Park event on Saturday (August 31) in Alexandra Park.
The day, organised by Louise Kelleher, director of Eat @ Ours Cafe, and Michelle Taylor, saw street theatre from Inside Out theatre group, face painting, a market with a wide array of stalls, live music and an animation workshop by Toaster Productions.
There was also a children’s party within the park as part of the event.
Live entertainment included music from bands such as Sandrabbit, The Referrals and All Aloud Choir.
There were also performances by Fusion Street Dance and the Hastleons and Section 5 Drummers.
Louise said: “It was a fabulous day out and takes months to organise. Michelle pretty much pulled this event off herself so most of the credit should go to her for organising such a successful day.
“We had a great attendance of people, which was in the thousands. The music, together with the weather, was glorious.”
As well as a barbecue, there was a hog roast and noodle bar.
