PUPILS, parents, staff and governors turned out in force for a secondary’s school’s achievement evening.
And it was a significant occasion at The Grove as it will be the lower school’s last presentation evening before the school merges with Filsham Valley to become The St Leonards Academy in September.
The event honoured the pupils in years seven, eight and nine who have done particularly well over the past 12 months, and Mayor Kim Forward was on hand to give out the certificates.
Sir Dexter Hutt, leader of the Hastings Schools Federation, was also there lending his support.
Fiona Calderbank, headteacher of the Darwell Close school, said: “Celebrating the achievement of Grove pupils with their parents is always a highlight of the school calendar. The successes this year will give an excellent platform for The St Leonards Academy to launch from.”
And Cllr Forward added: “The students have shown dedication and commitment to their studies over the year and I was happy to present them with their well-deserved awards. Well done.”
