SINCE our last report we have enjoyed many evenings of music, quizzes, bingo and dancing as well as supper evenings.
The weather has still had a detrimental effect and the snow made us cancel a night in March. The AGM was held after a Fish and Chip Supper on March 19.
The question of expense in some activities was discussed namely dinner dance falling numbers made it difficult although it was still most enjoyable.
We look for similar small groups who might like to join together for such events Christmas dinner dances, holidays and so on to combat the rising costs .
The early March visit to Newquay for the week was well received and enjoyed.
The Anniversary Party was held on April 2 in conjunction with Easter Bonnets Competition, with a supper of pie mash and liquor and music provided by Dave Medcalf.
We were pleased to join the Conservative Club for their Starlight Supper in aid of the Macmillan Nurses raising a creditable £300.
On April 16 we enjoyed an evening of Pipes and Drums by the Hamilton Academy Band. St Georges Day was celebrated with a Red and White evening and April 30 introduced a new musician Carl who gave a full evening of music for all.
On into May which included a trip to Ypres and historical War Graves by some members. Brighton Dogs for Sunday Lunch, a trip to Portsmouth and also an evening of Ploughmans supper with apple pie and cream to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Chestnut Tree House Childrens Hospice, our adopted charity which raised a further £200.
We have a holiday in Bournemouth booked from October 13 to 17, costing £181 and there is one twin room remaining if there is anyone out there who would like to join us they would be most welcome.
