The main arena event will be 3rd annual, South Downs Strongman Challenge competition. Like the "Britain's' Strongest Man" competition seen on the TV at Christmas, there will be a range of different events taking place across the afternoon, including giant tyre flipping, barrel lifting and tractor pulling. Competitors from across the UK will be taking part.

As always there will be a wide range of different stalls and attractions in addition to the strongman competition, there will be a variety of other displays taking place.

These include the regular country dancing display by Thakeham First School, music from the Petworth Town Band, a display of gun dogs and a performance by the Thakeham Morris.

The aim is to provide entertainment for all the family and raising much needed funds for the community- the village hall and Thakeham First School. The event continues into the evening with live music and food.

Starting at approximately 5.30pm, Sussex based band Dysfunktional will be getting the evening started with a mix of covers of funk and disco tunes by greats including Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power & Kool and the Gang.

Once everyone is warmed up, 'Darkstarr' will be welcomed back to Village Day.

Once again Hepworth & Co Brewers Ltd of Horsham are sponsoring the strongman competition and the beer tent, and Thakeham pub, The White Lion, is providing a spit roast for the evening.
