Ten jobs axed at souvenir company amid restructuring

TEN staff at Judges Postcards have been made redundant amid a programme of restructuring.

The job cuts are principally in the print production department, but there have also been losses from accounts, admin, external sales, and warehouse.

Judges Postcards, based in Bexhill Road, St Leonards, is a publisher of postcards, greetings cards, calendars, and other souvenirs.

Sales director Trevor Wolford said: “The Company has long recognised pressure from its traditional retail market for printed product, such as postcards and calendars.

“Furthermore the charity sector has experienced a decline in Christmas card retail sales in part due to the increase in postal rates. “To address this situation the Company is embarking upon a restructure that will result in a workforce to support the current business level and on-going payments to its suppliers.

The current job losses are principally in the print production department and is naturally a highly regrettable decision to make particularly for such a hard working and loyal team some of whom have worked for the company for more than 30 years.

The Company will continue to print using a reduced facility and this will enable it to concentrate on the development of this, together with its other business interests, and grow as a marketing and design led organisation.
