Tekameli brings Mediterranean passion to The Stade

GYPSY flamenco group Tekameli brought the heat of the Mediterranean to The Stade on Saturday evening (May 18).

With the stage framed by a spectacular sunset, the five musicians made their UK debut.

They played several upbeat rumba style pieces that had the audience dancing, including a couple of songs made famous by the Gipsy Kings.

What Tekameli is famous for though is music in the passionate gypsy gospel style, and with this they did not disappoint.

Hailing from the Pyrenees, a Catalan region, Tekameli means ‘I love you’ in Calo, the language of the gypsies of Spain.

The next Stade Saturdays event is The Body Circus this weekend (May 24 to 26).
