Teenager fights for life after crash

A TEENAGE girl was left fighting for her life after she was in collision with a car driven by a woman from St Leonards.

The 14-year-old was struck by a blue Vauxhall Corsa at 11.45am yesterday (22 August) at Pevensey Bay Road on the A259 eastbound.

The teenager was airlifted to Kings College Hospital, London, where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Corsa, a 19-year-old woman from St Leonards, was not injured.

Sergeant Dave Morgan from East Sussex Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to please call us on 101 quoting serial Operation Yarford.

“The road was closed eastbound for several hours whilst forensic investigators examined the scene and Highways cleared the road of debris. I would like to thank drivers for their patience and understanding.”
