Two other patients were also taken to hospital while a fourth patient, who suffered a wrist injury, declined treatment.

The scene was also attended by a fire crew from Battle and one from Bexhill.

Firefighters used specialist hydraulic cutting equipment to free one of the casualties.

Usually both fire appliances would have come from Battle Fire Station, but there were not enough personnel available on the day at Battle to crew the second appliance.
