ARTIST Sir Quentin Blake will make a special appearance at the Jerwood Gallery on November 15, as part of Hastings Storytelling Festival of which he is patron.

He will talk about his life as an artist and produce illustrations for a Hastings Storytelling Calendar, live at the gallery.

Sir Quentin is famous for his instantly recognisable illustrations for Roald Dahl’s children’s tales as well as many other books.

His awards include the Whitbread Award, the Kate Greenaway Medal, the Bologna Ragazzi Prize, and the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration.

He received a knighthood for services to illustration this year.

Tickets for the event at the Jerwood Gallery, which will run from 4pm to 5.30pm, are £6 for adults and £3 for those aged 10 to 16, available from the gallery or tourist information centre.

A limited number of signed posters will be on sale at the event, but Sir Quentin will not be signing books.

This year’s Hastings Storytelling Festival Fishy Tales, is a week-long series of events for all ages, produced by 18 Hours.
