Survey on residents' views on Bognor Regeneration set for summer

A first comprehensive survey into the regeneration of Bognor Regis will be carried out this summer.

The impartial assessment of residents' attitudes towards the important subject is to be conducted by the tourism management department at the University of Chichester.

Dr Andrew Clegg, the subject leader for tourism management, is planning the exact scale and scope of the survey.

But it will extend throughout the urban coastal area, unlike the forthcoming poll's limits of four electoral wards around the town centre.

"The regeneration proposals for Bognor are becoming extremely contentious, and there is a need for an independent, objective and representative assessment of the current situation," he explained.

"Having been a resident in Bognor for 13 years, I have never known an issue that has become so potentially divisive."

The survey follows the largest residential survey of attitudes to tourism carried out by the department to prove its ability to conduct such work.
