People are once again being invited to honour the memory of their loved ones with this year’s Christmas Tree of Light.
Each year, courtesy of the Rotary Club of Hastings, lights on the tree are sponsored as a tribute to a relative or friend who has passed away.
This year the tree will be outside Debenhams in the town centre and be lit up on Thursday (November 20).
As part of the Tree of Light campaign the Rotary Club of Hastings is asking for a minimum donation of £5.
To participate in the appeal, fill in the coupon on this page and post or take to Rotary Tree of Light, c/o Halifax plc, 1 Queens Road, Hastings TN34 1QP with a donation which will be passed to the Rotary Club of Hastings.
A list of names received by the club will be published in the Observer each week until Christmas.
The donor will also receive a card of thanks from the Rotary club.
The Rotary Club of Hastings has run the Tree of Light since 1997 and approximately £50,000 has been raised so far for St Michael’s Hospice and needy local people at Christmas.
Last year more than £2,000 was raised.
Richard Kennard, chairman of the Tree of Light Appeal, said: “The donations given will contribute towards helping the needy have that little bit extra at Christmas and the club would like to express its gratitude to the Observer and Halifax for their help.”
