Success for Rye College gym star

RISING Rye College star Jack Cooper was a winner when he travelled to Gloucester to take part in the 2012 Team Gym British Championships.

Jack is part of the 1066 Tigers team and the boys, aged eleven to sixteen, qualified in top place in their category for the finals.

The team made their bid for the title and performed very well, winning their category and being crowned Junior Men’s Team Gym British Champions.

The team will perform again in front of a selection panel in the coming weeks to qualify to become the team to represent their category at the European Championships in Denmark this October.

Rye College Principal Ann Cockerham said: “We are very proud of Jack’s achievements and wish him and his team all the very best of luck”.

Rye College is currently gearing up for the Olympics with a week long sports festival that gets underway on Monday and involves children from Primary schools in the Rye area.
