For most students getting to college in the morning is just a short commute by car or train, but a group of dedicated students travelled over 6,000 miles from South East Asia for classes at Sussex Coast College.
The group of 16 students from Saengthang Vitthaya School in Hat Yai, Thailand, have just finished a four-week course to learn English and turn their hands at ceramic and jewellery making.
This is the third time that a group of Saengthang Vitthaya students have made the 12,530 mile round trip to Hastings, as part of an on-going partnership to visit the college twice a year in the Autumn and Spring.
Jeremy Oughton, Head of International Business Development at Sussex Coast College said: “It’s a great experience for the students to visit the UK and see what we have to offer here at the college. They can get fully involved with college life. Some of them have been attending gym classes on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.”
“There are plenty of opportunities to explore the history and charm of Hastings, as well as a number of other local attractions while they’re here. Last week, the group took a trip to tour the Harry Potter experience just outside London.”
“We hope the group enjoyed their time at the college and we look forward to welcoming the fourth cohort of students in October.”
The College offers a wide range of English courses for students from all over the world; including General English, IELTS Preparation, Cambridge examination courses and an International Foundation Year (IFY).
