ASPIRING sports stars at William Parker Sports College were given fresh inspiration by the visit of the 1948 Olympic torch.
The famous symbol of the London games was taken into several schools across Hastings to inspire the next generation of competitors.
The students were allowed to hold the torch and watch video clips from the 1908 and 1948 Olympics as well as the last games in Beijing.
Parkwood student Louisa James, World Youth Champion 2011 in the Hammer, said: “It was great to be able to hold the Olympic torch as it’s part of Olympic history.
“The London games will be a great experience and will encourage me to go out and train harder and aim to be an Olympian.
“I hope to be competing in the 2016 Olympics. I have some friends that are competing in London and I am sure they will perform to the best of their abilities.”
