HASTINGS Street Pastors joined in the Christmas festivities by holding three different carol singing services.

The Sussex Coast College Christmas Fayre was held in unseasonal mild sunny weather which enabled the pastors’ choir to entertain outside the train station and in the college atrium around the Christmas tree with fellow stallholders joining in too.

The choir sang twice at Asda, the last time on Christmas Eve morning and in all £250 was raised for the Street Pastor service.

Street Pastors have been patrolling the town centre on Friday and Saturday evenings from 10pm till 3am since February 2010 in a team of four volunteers drawn from local churches.

Their ethos is one of listening, caring and helping whoever has a need. Items freely given include bottled water, blankets, hot drink and food.

The pastors give talks to any interested local groups and further information is available by email to or by calling 07964 167870.
