Five people arrested in the murder enquiry into the man who fell to his death from a flat in St Leonards on New Year’s Day have been re-bailed.
Daniel Dawson, 25, died after falling from the flat in Charles Road in the early hours of January 1, just after 4.45am.
Three men aged 35, 26 and 29, and two women aged 29 and 24, all from St Leonards were arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed until yesterday (Thursday, March 2).
They were all arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. They have been bailed further until May 4, while enquiries continue.
The 35-year-old man is also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and attempting to possess cannabis, a Class B controlled drug.
During the early hours of the morning, Mr Dawson fell through the corrugated plastic ceiling of a kitchen annexe in a basement flat.
Despite efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is thought he fell from a parapet four storeys up after an incident in another flat within the same terrace.
Mr Dawson’s family said in a statement after he was formally identified by police two days afterwards: “Dan lived his life to the full and was the life and soul of the party.
“He is sadly missed, as he always will be, by his mum, sister, brother, family and friends.
“We would respectfully ask that we are now left to share our grief in private and peace.”
