St John’s continues long music tradition

The choir of St John the Evangelist, Pevensey Road, St Leonards, will be giving a concert on Saturday June 20.

St John’s is well known for its music and there has been a choir there since 1896. Today’s choir draws on talent from within the family of the church.

The concert, under the direction of organist and Director of Music Richard Eldridge, will see an evening that offers concert goers a wide variety of music from J.S Bach to John Rutter.

Parish priest Fr David Hill said: “I am delighted that the choir members have given their time and energy to raise funds for St John’s, which has been famed for its music tradition, partly due to the fantastic acoustics of the building.

Tickets for the concert which starts at 7.30pm are priced at £5 and these are available at the door.
