Staff and volunteers at the Hastings Advice and Community Hub are walking to raise money for legal aid services in town and are looking for people to join them.
Hundreds of lawyers, law firms, advisors, support workers, teams from other agencies and members of the judiciary will walk the 10k route on September 15 to raise funds for Citizens Advice Bureau 1066, Hastings Advice and Representation Centre (HARC) and BHT Sussex Advice.
Dina Christodoulou, from Citizens Advice 1066, said: “The national Citizens Advice Bureau is celebrating its 75th birthday this year and Hastings has one of the very first CABs.”
Jo Wilson, BHT Sussex Hastings advice manager, said: “Times are tough for legal aid advice services so it’s great to see that we and other advice agencies are still able to support people and offer free advice. Despite the cuts to legal aid BHT Sussex has managed to prevent homelessness in 200 cases in the last year.”
The walk starts at 5pm from the First In Last Out pub. Visit http://londonlegalsupporttrust.org.uk/our-events/walks-in-the-south-east-2014/hastings-legal-walk-2014.
