A GROUP of 20 servicemen and women, family members and supporters, will walk from Hastings to Eastbourne next Saturday (August 27) in aid of wounded Royal Marines.
The event which is raising funds for the charity Help our Wounded - Royal Marines, will begin at Hastings Pier at 10am and finish around eight hours later at the Star Inn in Eastbourne’s old town, with a fundraising event.
Organiser David Lilburn, an ex-Royal Marine with 25 years of service, will be among those taking part in the 18-mile walk.
He said that they are hoping to raise at least £2,000 from individual sponsorship and also collections made along the route.
Walkers will be easily identifiable wearing brightly coloured Help our Wounded t-shirts, and joined by two Staffordshire Bull Terriers kitted out in matching uniform.
Funds in the region of £25,000 have been raised from events taking place in the south-east in the two years since the charity was set up to offer support to injured Royal Marines and their families.
