Special education classes cancelled as snow predicted to hit West Sussex again

SPECIAL education classes have been cancelled at the weekend amid fears that a return of snowy weather will make the county's roads dangerous.

Courses due to have been running throughout the county on Saturday (February 7) as part of West Sussex County Council's Able Pupil 'Enrichment' Programme have been called off.

A letter has been send out by West Sussex County Council to parents explaining the decision was taken because more snow is forecast for Friday evening.

"As things stand today the weather appears to be improving significantly," it said.

"However the forecast does predict further snow on Friday with a significant risk of heavy falls.

"In reaching this decision the council have taken into consideration the potentially dangerous driving conditions on Saturday morning, the number of people involved and in particular the age of the children."

There were 13 courses due to run on Saturday as part of programme for able pupils aged between seven and 16.

Pupils missing out will be given a priority during the summer programme.
