Five generations of one Hastings family made a long trip to Derbyshire to spend time with a Great Great Grandmother.

Marjorie Wallis, from St Leonards made the journey, last weekend, with her daughter Marjie Gethan, grandaughter Abbigail Gilbert and great grand-daughter Clemetine Hedges, aged five months.

They made the trip to visit Rene Wallis at her nursing home. Rene celebrates her 96th birthday in January.

Marjorie said: “It was a long round trip in a day but it was worth it. My daughter Marjie has just returned to the area after 16 years in South Africa so had not seen her grandmother for a long time.

“Rene enjoyed a red wine with us and says it is the occasional glass of red wine that has kept her going.”
