Seventy five homes get go-ahead

A BID to build 75 homes in Hailsham has been given the thumbs-up by Wealden councillors.

The mixture of houses and flats will be built east of Woodside Farm, Hempstead Lane, Hailsham.

Gleeson Homes was given permission to build 70 homes at the site in September 2007 by Wealden District Council.

Then a new application was submitted to build 75 homes at the site.

This was refused as the council did not believe the site was big enough for 75 homes.

But in November 2007 a planning inspector overturned the decision.

Wealden District Council Development Control South Sub Committee approved the application after reviewing it on Friday (May 9).
