Seniors’ forum appeal for secretary

An organisation for the over 50s in Hastings has launched an urgent appeal this week for a new secretary.

Hastings and St Leonards Seniors’ Forum which has a membership of almost 1,000 is desperate for someone to come forward and take on the job.

After celebrating its 10th anniversary with a party in the summer, the forum held its annual general meeting in October but no one came forward to take up the post of secretary.

Derek Alexander, who had been the secretary for the previous year, had stepped down because of other commitments.

Forum chairman, Ann Lowndes, said: “We really hope someone will come forward to fill his place. The job involves taking minutes and circulating them to the committee and dealing with correspondence.

“The secretary needs to send emails and receive them. And we’re all friendly at the forum.”

Anyone interested in becoming secretary should give the forum’s president Pam Brown a ring on 01424 424693 or email her at pambrown1066@tiscali.co.uk.

You can also write to the forum at Jackson Hall, Portland Place, Hastings, TN34 1QN.
