THANK YOU - JUMBLE SALE: Thank you to all our donators, supporters and helpers at the jumble sale in the village hall last Saturday. The afternoon raised over £415 towards the Friends of the Church Heritage Trust funds

FRIENDS OF SEDLESCOMBE CHURCH: Members, You are cordially invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of The Friends of Sedlescombe Parish Church Heritage Trust on Monday November 14 at 6.30p.m. at Asselton House, The Green , Sedlescombe . Refreshments will be available and there will be time following the meeting to socialise and meet your fellow members. We look forward to seeing you.

BOX OF LOVE SHOE BOX APPEAL: Margaret writes “A little reminder to anyone kindly making up a box, we would like them returned by the the latest October 30. These can be delivered to church or to 2 Forge cottages, The Green or telephone 870808 and we will collect, this allows time for them to be blessed on their way ready for collection by November 5. We thank you for your support”.

ADVENT FAIR: The annual church Advent fair will be on Saturday November 26 in the village hall at 12noon. More details to follow in the next few weeks.

SEDLESCOMBE AND DISTRICT FLOWER CLUB: The Sedlescombe and district flower club have their - dare I say it - Christmas demonstration coming up on Wednesday November 9 when Patricia Ellis, a NAFAS demonstrator will be interpreting “Anticipation”. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are only £5 to include seasonal drinks and nibbles on arrival with time to start the evening off meeting friends and making new ones. There will also be the chance to win one of the wonderful arrangements and a general raffle as well plus the opportunity of stocking up your floral accessories including oasis etc. at really keen prices. SEDLESCOMBE SOCIETY OF DOWSERS (SODS): Mary lynne Durrell writes with news of the society “Our Autumn and Winter evening meeting place has at last been sorted: Queens Head (back room), Sedlescombe, 2nd Monday in the month, next meeting November 14 at 6pm until 8pm. Donations £4.00 per meeting please. The Queens Head is a lovely traditional country pub with a cosy atmosphere. It’s perfect for a drink and a chat in the bar after meetings. The pub menu is so tempting some of us might even want an early supper. The SODS have achieved some amazing things in their first year. As well as learning about basic techniques in dowsing we’ve also dowsed:-Detrimental & beneficial energies in the home,Food allergies, Iron Age long barrows & Roman roads at the Village Hall car park & Red Barn Field,The pre-Norman Saxon Church & yet more Roman roads at St. John the Baptist Church Sedlescombe. WWII underground passages & medieval trackways in the middle of a wood, Landing sites of the 1066 Norman Invasion, The sites of King Harold’s Saxon Church and the first Norman Abbey & Saxon & Norman burial pits.Our first meeting this Autumn, on November 14 at the Queens Head, will focus on the battle sites of the so-called Battle of Hastings via map dowsing. Weather permitting we will then make weekend visits on site to verify our map dowsing discoveries. Several speakers have agreed to address us on dowsing related topics. Members are also invited to share their experiences, We can look forward to a thought-provoking, varied programme of workshops this coming year. Friends and beginners are always welcome and extra help with dowsing can be given to get them launched. Members are asked to bring a pendulum & L-rods. There are a few spare for visitors.
