Sue Holmes, the council’s head of street scene and leisure, said the diamond jubilee was the perfect time to find the town’s own queen.
“The queen should be a young woman who is confident and outgoing and keen to represent the town.
“They should also be willing to represent the town at various events during the year as well as being aware of the importance of the carnival to the community,” she said.

The carnival queen must be 16-plus. Her princesses can be between 8-15. The closing date for entries is May 18. Candidates need to be available for the judging at the town council’s Big Lunch in Hotham Park on June 3 during the jubilee weekend.
