BISHOPSTONE SUMMER FETE: Last Saturday enjoyed a glorious summer’s day and people came from near and far. It was wonderful to see so many people having a good time. A magnificent £4,000 was raised with donations still coming in for the upkeep of St Andrew’s Church. However it is not just about money, the aim is also for this to be a community event where, with its traditional theme it is hoped everyone of all ages will have a happy day. Sue and Jane the organiser’s, wish to convey their heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the day. A lot of preparation is required and a big thank you goes to the people who were involved in the run up to the day. The publications and websites who freely advertised the event, the local companies who donated raffle prizes, the cake and pickle makers and the people who helped in the preparation of the village green and car parking field, sorted out all the goods for stalls and the preparations for the catering for the day. The day dawns very early in order to be ready in time and we are very grateful for the help with setting it all up. On the stroke of noon, the fete was opened by Father Trevor and the Pop-Up Choir started of the proceedings with a variety of popular songs from the 70’s and 80’s which was a great start. Our thanks go to all the stall holders for the wide variety of goods for sale, the entertainers and those providing refreshments. We wish to thank Pad to Pad for so generously donating the prize money for the Dog Show and Claire who so kindly provided the much coveted rosettes. Thank you so much to all friends, neighbours and family who helped on the day and on whom we rely so much and of course finally all the public that came and supported the fete so well. We hope to see you all again next year.
