Scouts Face Challenge for Children In Need

It was bitterly cold on Friday evening when 27 youngsters from the 3rd Bexhill Scout Group did a sponsored abseil for Children In Need.

They abseiled down the side of the drill tower at Bexhill fire station, overcoming both the chill and their nerves to raise over 550.

Section Assistant Debbie Clark said: "The scouts decided that they wanted to challenge themselves this year and Do Something Different, which was the theme for this year's Children In Need.

"It is also 100 years since scouting began this year and the abseil was one of 100 challenges that the scouts have had to do over the course of this year.

"There was a great deal of very nervous scouts as it was a long way down to the bottom when you were at the top of the tower looking out, but they were all fantastic.

"A huge thank you to Bexhill fire station for opening up their fire tower, and to all the fire fighters that gave up their evening off to run the event."
